Workshop Information
Knitting: Anna's workshop will centre around a colourwork project, inspired by the patterns and tradition of knitting in Yorkshire Dales. We will work on fingerless gloves using traditional patterns of the Yorkshire Dales, practising holding two yarns in one hand or two hands if preferable. We will be working in the round using Double Pointed Needles and will even have a go at using the traditional Yorkshire sheath. There will also be the opportunity to knit a Yorkshire Rose to use it as an embellishment for the gloves or a brooch.
Crochet: As with knitting, we will work on fingerless gloves, inspired by patterns and traditions in Yorkshire Dales. We will work using stranded crochet techniques, practice carrying and catching yarns, and also work using the one-handed and two handed methods.
Meet Anna and your tour manager at the 4-star Leonardo Bradford. Set in the heart of Bradford city, your hotel is close to City Park and the Alhambra Theatre. This evening, meet your fellow crafters for dinner in the hotel.
Enjoy your first full day with Anna at the hotel, starting work on your projects.
Enjoy your second full day with Anna at the hotel, working on your projects.
The collection of the Knitting & Crochet Guild is a treasure trove of textile wonders. Housed in a former mill, in the Colne Valley village of Slaithwaite, it is at the heart of Yorkshire textile production. Visitors will see the huge range of textiles, publications, tools and yarns in the collection. You will receive an annual membership, with lots of member benefits! Find out more on their website. Return to Bradford for some free time for lunch, followed by your final workshop with Anna.
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel.
Information on Knitting & Crochet Guild Annual Membership: All guests joining this tour will receive an annual membership to the guild. This enables you to obtain free vintage patterns and enjoy all the other member benefits. Click here to find out more or you can choose to gift the membership to a friend or relative, or decline it.
Tour notes: You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness to get the most out of this holiday. On excursion days you will need to walk a short distance from the hotel to the coach and you should be able to board the coach unaided. On arrival at the excursion destination, you should be able to alight the coach unaided and there may be a walk between the coach drop off point and the excursion venue. By their nature, walking tours, museum visits etc involve being on your feet for a significant amount of time. Whilst our excursions are taken at a leisurely pace, for the enjoyment of everyone in the group you should be able to keep up with your fellow travellers.
You will stay for four nights at the 4-star Leonardo Hotel Bradford.
