Sarah Hazell

Expert Overview

Sarah Hazell has a passion for textiles. She worked as a full-time primary school teacher and then as a part-time tutor in Creative Textiles at her local college, before joining Rowan Yarns as a tutor. Sarah has a particular interest in colour work and exploring decorative techniques and, through her workshops, she aims to give inspiration as well as expertise. Sarah’s relaxed style means that you can learn at a pace that you are comfortable with. “I love that feeling of enabling somebody to learn a new skill!”

She has written several books on knitting and crochet, including two stitch directories that have sold throughout the world. Her designs have appeared in Knitting, Making and Let’s Knit magazine over the years and she writes three columns a month for Knitting magazine, reviewing yarns, giving top tips and answering reader’s letters.

Sarah also works with fellow Stitchtopia expert, Jane Crowfoot, providing technical support with her patterns and helping at shows and festivals. She loves helping people to choose a project and sharing their enthusiasm for craft. When she’s not knitting or crocheting, Sarah enjoys hand-stitching and quilting, and has recently written a piece for Breathe magazine on the benefits of ‘slow stitching’.
