Held annually since 2005, the Sitges International Patchwork Festival is one of Europe’s leading textile art events. The focal point of the festival is the open-air market on the beachfront promenade with over 100 national and international vendors selling fabrics, tools and other specialist patchwork products.
The curated exhibitions across several venues in the town showcase contemporary and traditional quilts, textile installations and works by international artists. Themed competitions are organised by the Spanish Patchwork Association. An extensive programme of workshops taught by renowned national and international textile artists are available to book for an additional charge. We’ll enjoy two fun-filled days here!
Enjoy a full-day hand-sewing workshop with Kim in the meeting room at the hotel.
This morning we’ll transfer by coach to Barcelona, where a full day of discovery awaits in the company of our expert local guide. We’ll take in elegant Passeig de Gràcia, one of the city’s most iconic boulevards, and the sweeping views from Montjuïc, a prominent hill rising above the harbour that offers a different perspective of the city’s coastline.
As we explore, we’ll encounter the work of Antoni Gaudí, including the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família (entrance included), and the imaginative and expressive façades of Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. There will also be time to soak up local life at Els Encants, one of Europe’s oldest markets. Finally, we’ll step inside Ribes & Casals, a traditional fabric shop established in 1933, and a hidden gem for textile lovers.
This morning, we’ll discover the historic heart of Barcelona on a guided walking tour including the enchanting Gothic Quarter, where narrow medieval streets, hidden squares, and centuries-old buildings reveal the city’s rich past.
From here, we’ll stroll along lively La Rambla, the city’s most famous boulevard, stretching from Plaça de Catalunya down to the waterfront. Along the way, we’ll admire the magnificent Barcelona Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture dating back over 500 years. The tour will end at La Boqueria, a bustling food market where you can sample everything from traditional tapas and fresh seafood to paella and regional wines.
This afternoon is at leisure for you to explore Barcelona, shop, or sit at a café and watch the world go by.
If you have booked our join direct package, your tour ends after breakfast.
With our flight-inclusive package, transfer by coach to Barcelona Airport for our return flight to London.
