Join Juliet Bernard on an unforgettable journey through the heart of New York State. We begin in vibrant New York, the city that never sleeps, home to iconic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the Empire State Building. There will be time to explore the ‘Big Apple’ before travelling upstate to Kingston, nestled between the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River, with a scenic drive, river cruise and an expert-led workshop included. We then attend the New York State Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, a much celebrated, annual event which bring together yarn enthusiasts, crafters and curious travellers! You don't want to miss out.
Please choose your preferred 7 or 8 day itinerary
Please Note: This 7-day itinerary is for the join direct package, which excludes flights. The 8-day package, with return flights from London to New York and 1 piece of checked-in luggage, is available at an additional cost.
Once flight times are known, it may be possible for guests organising their own flights to join the transfer to the airport on the final day with prior arrangements.
Workshop Information: "Taking inspiration from the spectacular fall colours we will see in the US, I have designed an Autumn Cowl. The colours give a beautiful backdrop to the Rhinebeck Festival and techniques will include provisional cast on, Fair Isle, moebius twist and grafting. This project is suitable for adventurous beginners and intermediate knitters." – Juliet Bernard
With our join direct package, please make your way to the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel independently to meet Juliet Bernard, your Tour Manager and other members of the group.
Today is free for you to explore New York City. You might like to visit the Empire State Building, stroll through Central Park, see a Broadway show or visit one of the many yarn stores in the city.
This morning, we will leave the city behind as we travel upstate to Kingston, nestled between the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River. The journey takes us through one of the most scenic regions of the state, especially in the fall, when the Hudson Valley becomes a stunning tapestry of colour. Rolling hills, riverbanks and tree-lined highways set ablaze with fiery reds, deep oranges, and golden yellows as the leaves reach their peak brilliance, creating a breathtaking backdrop for our drive.
This afternoon, we explore part of the Hudson Valley from the water during our included Hudson River cruise. Relaxing on deck, you will be able to view the historic shoreline which features luxury riverside properties, lighthouses, quaint villages, vineyards and orchards, as well as spending some time autumn leaf peeping!
Enjoy a full-day knitting workshop with Juliet Bernard.
This evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might like to eat in the hotel or make your way into Kingston (an approx. 20 minute walk) for a variety of restaurants.
Enjoy two full days at the amazing New York State Sheep & Wool Festival! During this two-day event, you will be able to wander among rows of colourful yarns, watch live demonstrations, meet friendly alpacas and sheep, explore the marketplace brimming with handcrafted goods, equipment and local flavours whilst immersing yourself in the community and celebration of all things woolly!
Whether you're an avid crafter or just in search of an authentic fall experience, Rhinebeck is a heartwarming slice of upstate charm that captures the magic of the season.
