There’ll be lots to learn from our expert, Mandy Cameron, as you knit a stylish wrap with sleeves in the relaxing surroundings of Blunsdon House Hotel. Techniques covered include creating texture with stitches, various methods of increasing and decreasing, reading and understanding lace charts, using markers and lifelines, and creating a picot point edging.

Skill Level: Easy. You should be able to knit and purl proficiently.
Requirements List: Yarn (type and quantity to be confirmed), 4mm, 5mm and 6mm knitting needles (straight or circular), scissors, stitch markers, yarn sewing needle, notepad and pen.
Check in to your room from 3pm. Get to know your expert, Retreat Manager and fellow crafters over dinner this evening.
Today, we’ll look at reading and understanding lace charts, calculating the number of stitches for the cuffs while maintaining continuity in the lace pattern, choosing an appropriate cast-on for double rib cuffs, and using stitches to create texture.
Today, we’ll begin working on our lace pattern, using markers and lifelines to help avoid any mishaps. We’ll explore different methods of increasing to create eyelets, as well as how to decrease, slanting left and right to maintain symmetry of pattern. Finally, we’ll look at how to create a picot point edge while keeping the side edges neat, straight, and weighted.
Tour Notes: Although there are no mobility requirements for this tour, please note that you will need to be able to make your own way between our workshop rooms, your bedroom and the restaurant, which could involve walks of up to 5 minutes.
