There’ll be lots to learn from expert Mandy Cameron as you knit a stylish waterfall vest or cardigan in the relaxing surroundings of Blunsdon House Hotel. We will cover many techniques over the course of the weekend, including swatching for gauge for accurate sizing, different methods of increasing and decreasing, creating eyelets, sleeve shaping, bead placement, shoulder and neck shaping, and more.

Skill Level: Easy to intermediate. You must be proficient with the core basics of knit and purl stitches.
Requirements List: DK yarn (quantity of yarn to be confirmed – varies with sizing), 4mm knitting needles (straight or circular) and a 1mm crochet hook, beads with 2-3mm diameter hole, a notepad and pen, scissors, sewing needle and stitch markers.
Make your own way to the Blunsdon House Hotel and check in to your room from 3pm. Get to know your expert, Retreat Manager and fellow crafters over dinner this evening.
In our workshop today, we’ll look at:
✔ Interpreting diagram symbols to enhance written instructions
✔ Gauging swatches for perfect sizing
✔ Evaluating the elegant flow of a waterfall drape
✔ Sculpting graceful shoulder and neck shapes
✔ Choosing the ideal sleeve length
✔ Shaping sleeves with precision and flair
Today we'll explore the delicate art of lace panels, mastering:
✔ Increases and decreases while preserving perfect symmetry
✔ Using markers and lifelines to safeguard your progress
✔ Adding beads seamlessly without threading them onto yarn
✔ Keeping borders crisp and edges straight
✔ Finishing strong with expert panel assembly
✔ Blocking techniques to bring it all together beautifully
Following the workshop, depart Blunsdon House Hotel and make your own way home.
Please Note: Although there are no mobility requirements for this tour, please note that you will need to be able to make your own way between our workshop rooms, your bedroom and the restaurant, which could involve walks of up to 5 minutes.
