Join expert Janet Goddard on a quilting retreat in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. Using a clever repeating block design, the interlocking chains quilt comes to life through thoughtful fabric placement and careful piecing. Whether you bring a jelly roll or your favourite fabric scraps, this project is perfect for exploring colour values and mastering precision. With expert tuition and plenty of time at the sewing machine, you'll be well on your way to creating a beautiful, linked design, picking up tips and techniques as you go.
Our UK team is here and happy to help!

Workshop Information: This quilt is made from a single repeating block, but what makes it clever is the fabric placement which continues into the lined blocks. It is a pattern which needs careful piecing but, once you have made your first couple of blocks you will be well on your way. The quilt is jelly roll friendly or can be made from fabric scraps. The pattern works best when the fabrics for the chains are all of a similar colour value e.g. all dark or all light.
Skill Level: Confident beginner/intermediate. Able to use a rotary cutter and ruler and stitch an accurate ¼ inch seam. Able to use a sewing machine.
Requirements List: 1 ½ metres background fabric, one jelly roll or 32 fabric scraps (from each piece of fabric you need to be able to cut 2 ½ inch width strips totalling 24 inches), neutral thread for piecing, rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat, usual sewing equipment including pins, scissors, marking pen/pencil, unpicker (sufficient to make a quilt top measuring 58 x 58 inches). To Finish: ¾ metre fabric for the outer border, 14 inch fabric for the binding, wadding 62 x 62 inches, backing fabric 62 x 62 inches.
