Holiday Overview
Spend a creative and relaxing weekend with Emma Leith making crochet bunting and flags. Over two enjoyable days, you’ll learn a variety of crochet stitches, how to work neat rows and shape triangles, and how to introduce colour changes seamlessly into your work. We’ll also explore simple embroidery stitches and embellishments to add beautiful decorative details to your finished pieces. Expect plenty of creativity, encouragement and inspiration as you stitch, relax and enjoy a weekend of mindful making.

Itinerary

Skill Level: Confident beginners who have mastered the basics.
Requirements List: 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm hook. Yarn needle and scissors.
Make your own way to the hotel and check in to your room from 3pm. Get to know your expert, Retreat Manager and fellow crafters over dinner this evening.

Today you’ll build confidence in a range of crochet and embellishment techniques as we create beautiful Prayer Flag Bunting. We’ll explore a variety of crochet stitches and learn how to work neat, straight rows without accidentally losing or adding stitches. During the making of these colourful striped flags, you’ll gain confidence in colour selection and practise changing colours seamlessly.
Once the crochet is complete, we’ll bring our flags to life with decorative embroidered embellishments, including French knots. By the end of the day, you’ll have a collection of unique and personal designs.

Today we focus on our 'Blowing in the Breeze' bunting! These elongated triangles are perfect for experimenting with colour and pattern. You’ll continue to build confidence in working neat crochet rows whilst learning how to increase and decrease stitches. The simple pattern provides plenty of opportunity to explore colour combinations, together with techniques for changing yarn colours seamlessly.
Finished pieces can be personalised with embroidered embellishments and decorative stitched details, resulting in a vibrant and unique set of bunting flags.
Following the workshop, depart the hotel and make your own way home.

Tour Notes: Although there are no mobility requirements for this tour, please note that you will need to be able to make your own way between our workshop rooms, your bedroom and the restaurant, which could involve walks of up to 5 minutes. Set in 30 acres of beautiful countryside, the 4-star Blunsdon House Hotel is situated in the village of Broad Blunsdon. All the individually decorated bedrooms have flat-screen televisions, a safety deposit box, telephone, hairdryer and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There are two restaurants and three bars to relax in and enjoy a drink after a day of exploring. Alternatively, guests can take a swim in the indoor heated swimming pool (charge applies) or enjoy a walk around the beautiful hotel grounds.

If you are travelling by car the hotel is a 25 minute drive from junction 15 of the M4 or 40 minutes drive from junction 11a of the M5. Ample car parking on site free of charge. There are also 4 EV Charging points.
