Creating with a Charm Pack Sewing Machine Weekend

This morning, we’ll start work on our small quilt, carefully arranging our charm pack squares for a pleasing layout and colour balance. We’ll then move on to creating our appliqué shapes, readying them for placement. Once the design elements are ready, we’ll prepare the background fabrics and sew them together using strip piecing techniques to form the foundation of the quilt top.

After lunch, we’ll position and fuse our appliqué shapes onto the quilt top, bringing our designs to life. We’ll then stitch around each shape on the sewing machine to secure and define the appliqué. To finish the day, we’ll layer up our quilt tops with wadding and backing, preparing it fully so it’s ready for quilting.

This morning, we’ll finish our projects. We’ll quilt our layered quilt top on the sewing machine, securing all layers together while adding texture and interest through stitching. Once done, we’ll move on to binding – learning how to neatly finish the edges for a professional look. By lunchtime, your small quilt will be complete and ready to take home.

This afternoon, we turn our attention to the cushion. We'll create 12 lozenge blocks using charm squares, sewing them together to form the cushion front. Once assembled, we’ll quilt the cushion panel to add structure and detail before finishing it with binding for a polished edge. By the end of the day, you’ll have a beautiful cushion to complement your small quilt.
