Join Juliet Bernard as we experience Colmar in the beautiful Alsace region, explore picturesque Zürich in Switzerland, and enjoy the inspiring Swiss Yarn Festival. Colmar, a picture-perfect town in eastern France, is famous for its colourful half-timbered houses, flower-lined canals, and well-preserved old town that blends French and German influences in its architecture, cuisine and culture. Our next destination is Zürich, located on the northern shore of Lake Zürich and the largest city in Switzerland. We'll also spend a full day at the colourful Swiss Yarn Festival – an event celebrating all things wool and yarn, including knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving.

This morning, we set out on a walking tour of Colmar, a charming town in northeastern France often referred to as “Little Venice.” Renowned for its beautifully preserved old town, half‑timbered houses, and picturesque canals, Colmar offers a rich sense of history and character. Accompanied by a guide, you will explore the town’s most enchanting areas, including its iconic old‑town landmarks, the Church of the Dominicans, the Tanners’ Quarter, and the vibrant houses once home to fishermen, boatmen, and market gardeners.
This afternoon, your first knitting workshop with Juliet will take place at the hotel.
Today, we will walk from the hotel to Colmar Station, where we'll take the train to Strasbourg, a captivating city dominated by its soaring Gothic cathedral with an intricate façade and an impressive astronomical clock. Set along the banks of the Rhine in eastern France, Strasbourg blends French charm with German heritage, combining medieval beauty, a lively atmosphere, and significant European institutions.
While in Strasbourg, we will enjoy a sightseeing cruise along the River Ill, giving you the chance to see the city from the water with audio‑guide commentary. There will also be free time for independent exploration before we return to Colmar by rail in the late afternoon.
Join Juliet for a full‑day workshop at the hotel to continue working on your project. Refreshments will be served in the morning and afternoon.
This morning, we will check out of the hotel and drive to Zürich, the largest city in Switzerland, which blends historic charm with modern sophistication. Located in the heart of the country, Zürich was once home to Einstein, James Joyce, and Wagner. Its picturesque old town and medieval buildings sit alongside lively cafés, world‑class museums, and luxury shopping. Set on the shores of Lake Zürich and framed by distant Alpine views, the city is perfect for leisurely strolls, boat cruises, and soaking up Swiss culture at its finest.
After free time for lunch, we will be joined by a local guide for a walking tour of the Old Town, learning about the city’s past as we explore its hidden alleyways, cobbled streets, and picturesque squares.
Today, we will spend the day at the Swiss Yarn Festival – the ultimate event for wool and yarn enthusiasts! Whether you’re passionate about knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, embroidery, or bobbin lace, you’ll meet like‑minded makers, discover the latest creations, and learn new techniques or deepen your skills in one of the many workshops.
Please Note: Workshops must be booked and paid for directly with the festival organisers, available January 2027.
This morning, the final workshop with Juliet will take place in the hotel before a free afternoon for you to explore Zürich at your own pace. Visit one of the many museums, stroll by the lake, visit the Lindt Chocolate Museum, or shop along the famous Bahnhofstrasse.
If you have booked our join direct package, your tour ends after breakfast.
