Join Georgia Farrell for a creative weekend exploring the fascinating relationship between knitting and architecture. Inspired by Georgia’s popular 'A Built World Knit Along' with Rowan Yarns, this weekend celebrates the textures, shapes and patterns found in buildings around the world, and how they can be translated into beautiful, knitted fabric. Throughout the weekend, you’ll work on a selection of textured squares inspired by architectural details – from the modern lines of Rotterdam to striking buildings in New York City, London and Beijing. Each square explores different combinations of stitch patterns and techniques, from simple knit-and-purl to travelling cables, slip stitches and more. Combine your chosen squares into a unique cushion front or use them as the starting point for a larger project.
During the weekend, Georgia will share the stories behind each design, the architectural inspiration that sparked it, and the techniques used to create each texture. Whether you are drawn to stitch patterns, structural design, or simply enjoy learning through making, the weekend offers you the chance to slow down, knit, and see the built world through a new lens.

Begin the weekend by exploring how architectural details can be translated into knitted texture, starting with one of the most accessible squares from Georgia’s 'A Built World Knit Along'. The design uses simple knit and purl combinations to create striking surface patterns, inspired by a building in Georgia’s favourite city, Rotterdam.
In the afternoon, we travel to New York City for a more intricate square featuring travelling cables and slip stitches. This design introduces new ways of creating texture in your knitting, echoing the lines and forms of the building that inspired it. Throughout the day, Georgia will talk you through the patterns, techniques, and design inspiration behind each square. If you are a speedy knitter, personalise your project by selecting additional squares from the collection, there are plenty more to choose from!
We continue our architectural journey with a brand-new design created especially for this weekend, inspired by the striking geometry of Moorgate station on the Elizabeth line in London. This square features double-wrapped travelling cables recreating the strong angular lines of the station’s design.
In the afternoon, continue working on any squares already in progress or join Georgia for another architectural stop in Beijing, knitting a geometric diamond pattern inspired by a building Georgia spotted from a car window while travelling through the city. Again, there will be flexibility to work at your own pace. If you are a speedy knitter, you can explore additional squares from the collection to create your unique cushion front.
Following the workshop, depart the hotel and make your own way home.
